Romar's Management and Leadership Development Round Table series returns in 2022 with an exciting and important topic. Special guest Sharon Grehan of Gilead Sciences will join David Davis in a discussion of steps leaders can take to address workplace inequity, and how development teams can support and prepare them.
While the topic of diversity and inclusion (D&I) isn’t new, 2020 was a wake-up call for companies to reexamine their D&I initiatives. A growing number of laws and requirements are being enacted to support greater diversity in the workplace. And while companies are spending more than ever on these initiatives, they are still failing to make meaningful progress. Employees are looking to leadership to make a difference. It doesn’t matter how many policies or D&I initiatives companies have in place if leaders can’t translate equality into a set of behaviors, norms, and routines.
Join us for a round-table discussion on barriers to achieving gender equity in the workplace and actions leaders can take to make meaningful progress. Sharon Grehan will facilitate the hour-long virtual conversation, hosted by Romar's President David Davis. Anyone with a stake in workplace equity is welcome to participate.

About Sharon Grehan
Sharon Grehan, Ph.D., is Executive Director of Business Strategy and Operations and Global Lead for Women at Gilead Sciences. She serves as the Global Lead for the Women at Gilead Employee Resource Group, with responsibility for global strategy to enhance gender equity in opportunities and experiences for women at all levels. Sharon has brought to Gilead a fresh perspective on global gender and other equity strategies, from building a strategy to providing actionable guidance and support to a worldwide network of more than 7,200 women, tying efforts to business outcomes and measuring the impact of initiatives. She also serves as a strategic partner to industry groups, diversity organizations, and associations, such as Fairygodboss, HBA, and California Women’s Conference.
Sharon joined Gilead in 2008 and is a strong leader skilled in team motivation, engagement, performance, and empowerment. While at Gilead, she has held multiple leadership roles in Market Research, Forecasting, Strategic Pricing, Oncology Marketing, Commercial Strategic Insights and Commercial Learning and Development. Before joining Gilead, she conducted postdoctoral research at the Gladstone Institutes and was a strategic consulting partner.
Sharon holds an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from the National University of Ireland, Galway, and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. She is the lead and co-author of 12 peer-reviewed manuscripts in various fields of research and is currently on the board at Fairygodboss leading Employee Resource Groups (ERG) Accelerator efforts.
